Our Story

“If you assume there is no hope, you guarantee there is no hope. If you assume there are opportunities to change things, then there is a possibility that you can contribute to making a better world” — Noam Chomsky

Australians know how it feels to help others, to act with compassion, to do the right thing.

In Australia, the Federal Government’s offshore detention regime has denied us that opportunity; apparently for our own good. They claim they need to protect us from threats posed by people from other countries fleeing persecution and conflict, but: it is not good for us, and it is protecting us from an imaginary threat that does not actually exist.

The alternative is simple: Treat human beings in need, whoever they are, with respect and humanity.

No human being's life is worth less than another's.

That’s the beginning of our story.
